1 Timothy 6:11-12
I. Introduction – Paul is telling Timothy about living as a man of God. He says But flee from these things, you man of God. Things like the love of money, strife, men who teach false doctrine.
II.
Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness.
a. When we as men flee from the evils of this world we are called to pursue things that draw us closer to God.
III. Fight the good fight of faith
a. Live the Gospel, and defend the cause of God. Build up the Church, live in the spirit of thy religion, and give thyself wholly to this work.
b. We live in a constant state of battle. We are in a war and we are soldiers for our Lord's army.
IV.
Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
a. Eternal Life begins when we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior and it is our responsibility as men to hold on to it. To live it out. To demonstrate it to our wives and families and the people around us.
b. We as men who have claimed Christ have made a public profession and it's time we stand up for that. We can't let it fall on our wives or our children, God demands we lead in the church.
