Great Commission Resurgance

I used the first point of the Great Commission Resurgence tonight in Bible study. It states:

I. A Commitment to Christ’s Lordship. We call upon all Southern Baptists to submit to the absolute Lordship of Jesus Christ in all things at the personal, local church, and denominational levels. (Col. 1:18; 3:16-17, 23-24) - http://www.greatcommissionresurgence.com

If churches and Christians don't get the first point right, the others are worthless. We need to submit to Christ's Lordship and do it now. Compare your Sunday Morning attendance to your Wednesday Night. Christ is not a priority for most people in the church pew. Jobs, families, sports, and laziness trump a committed life to Christ. We will not have a resurgence of any type until we get this one right. Why would God start blessing our churches if we aren’t living the lives He has called us to? We need a Great Commission Resurgence, we need all of the GCR adopted, but it has to start by remembering once again who’s in charge and whose we are.

Looking forward to my first SBC.

Thanks to Dr. Steve Patton, Pastor, Fairview Baptist in Greer, SC and Professor at North Greenville University for the foundation for these thoughts.
